According to a January 2021 report by The Dallas Morning News, a new Walmart project in the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb of Lancaster will potentially create more than 1,300 new jobs for residents. To support the retail giant’s thriving e-commerce operations, the project will involve constructing two new e-commerce facilities comprising a total area of 1.9 million square feet.
One facility, a fulfillment center for online purchases, will occupy 1.2 million square feet, while the remaining 700,000 square feet will be allocated to a cold storage facility. According to Lancaster City documents, the $800-million project is set to be completed in 2025.
